Gifts under $50 in South Broadway
Don't fret that Buy Local Week is now over; there are lots of great finds at locally owned retailers all over the city! Over the next two weeks, we'll bring you a few ideas for great, unique items you can find at local retailers for less than $50.
My housemate loves drink-specific glassware, and I found lots of great vintage bar
ware at Lee Alex Decor, located on Broadway near Archer. Find hip martini glasses for $20 a pair or decanters starting at $40. My favorite were the gold etched highball glasses for $7 each. You can also find lamps, furniture, jewelry and other random odds and ends, and since they buy items from neighbors, the inventory is always changing.
Nearby is Napali Bazaar, where I found lined knitted wrist warmers for $14, and beautiful scarves for $10. They also have lovely beaded jewelry and warm knitted hats.
My next stop was Decade, which is so full of chic clothing and other strange-but-fun items, I hardly know what to choose. Pick up recycled willow earrings for $18 and stylish hats for $28.
These are just three stores out of nearly 40 on South Broadway between 6th Ave and Alameda. Don't forget to drop into Fancy Tiger Clothing or its sister store, Fancy Tiger Crafts for the hipster fashionistas and knitters in your life. Fahrenheit's Books is a great little book store with tons of rare & used books. And T-Trove Asian Decor is well worth a visit to find great things for the home and say hi to Elliot (voted Westword's Best Shop Dog for 2006).
