Goodwill Industries of Denver Embraces "Local First" Holistically
Continuing along the same vain as the last post (Thrift is green, local and easy on your wallet), here's some information about Goodwill Industries of Denver and what "going local" means to them.
As this holiday season rolls around, it’s time for all of us to take the time to make smart decisions with how we spend our money and what businesses and charities we choose to support.
Goodwill Industries of Denver believes that “local first” isn’t just about buying local. It’s about supporting your community and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
During Buy Local Week and throughout the end of the year, Goodwill is asking the community to DO SOME GOOD – whether through buying local, donating to Goodwill, volunteering or simply supporting your community and its citizens.
Just as patronizing local stores stimulates our economy, your donations of gently-used items, cars, cash and volunteer time ensures that our economy is stable well into the future. All donations support Goodwill programs that help struggling individuals find the will to plan a successful future and support themselves and their families - thereby reversing the cycle of poverty in our community.
Your support helps Goodwill give over 30,000 at-risk youth, adults living in poverty and disabled individuals the tools to plan a career and learn how to best support themselves.
