Who's Who, a Clarification Post
Okay, okay. I get it. I'll buy local already. Sheesh. But I'm still confused...
There are a plethora of campaigns and organizations promoting buying locally this holiday season. So far, I've been blogging about a lot of individual business stories as well as coverage on our campaign here in Denver, but there's a lot more out there, especially in Boulder. Since I'm knee-deep in this stuff, I'm thoroughly in the know... and I think that you should be too! Here's a little walk through of who's who and what campaigns they're leading.
BALLE: The Business Alliance for Local Living Economies is North America's fastest growing network of socially responsible businesses, comprised of 79 community networks with over 21,000 independent business members across the U.S. and Canada. This is the inspirational parent/umbrella organization/network.
MHBA: The Mile High Business Alliance is a local member of BALLE, serving the Denver Metro Area. (That's us!!!)
BIBA: The Boulder Independent Business Alliance is a local member of BALLE as well as AMIBA (America Independent Business Alliance) serving the Boulder area.
MHBA : Denver
BIBA : Boulder
Programs & Campaigns:
Colorado Local First: Local first campaign for Colorado sponsored by MHBA. Site contains statewide online directory of local businesses.
Denver's Buy Local Week: Annual campaign (from Nov 30th to Dec. 6th this year) sponsored by MHBA, hosted on Colorado Local First's website.
Buy Local Month:Campaign for the month of December sponsored by Boulder Weekly, supported by BIBA.
I Love Local: Year-round campaign organized by Boulder Weekly.
Phew! I hope that helps. Now back to the blogosphere!
